The Product

Tiqwa Anchor is a white-label SaaS product that helps travel agencies deploy their online travel portal in minutes. Anchor relieves travel agencies of the technical burden of designing and deploying travel booking systems, allowing them to focus on their core businesses.

OTA = Online Travel Agency

Problem Statement

Travel agencies often face a significant technical burden when it comes to designing and deploying their own online travel booking systems.

This time-consuming and complex process takes valuable resources away from the agency's core business. As a result, many agencies need help to get their systems up and running in a timely manner or are forced to rely on third-party solutions that may not meet their specific needs.

Solution

Anchor is a white-label SaaS platform designed to empower travel agencies by enabling them to quickly launch fully functional online booking portals.

This allows agencies to focus on delivering personalized travel planning services while offering clients a seamless, online experience.

By simplifying deployment and reducing operational overhead, Anchor helps agencies improve customer satisfaction and unlock new revenue opportunities.

Anchor’s Mission-Driven Objectives

Create a user-friendly platform that streamlines the process of building and maintaining an online travel portal for travel agencies.

  • Providing a comprehensive solution that allows agencies to focus on their core business of helping clients plan and book travel, rather than worrying about the technical details of building and maintaining a booking system.

  • Providing an easy-to-use platform that handles all of the technical aspects,

  • Improve the customer experience and increase revenue for the agency.

Prerequisites (Necessary Requirements)

Customize their online travel portals to match their branding and style, including the ability to add logos, colours, and other design elements.

  • Integrate with other systems and platforms that agencies may already be using, such as customer relationship management (CRM) software or payment gateways.

  • Offer support and resources to help agencies get up and running quickly, including training materials and customer service support.

  • Handle a large volume of bookings and users, with the ability to handle high traffic and growth.

Product Actors

This platform supports a multi-tiered actor system, each with specific roles and responsibilities essential to the ecosystem:

Qualitative Interview insights

I conducted user research meetings with 2 stakeholders and 7 other end users who had firsthand experience with the issue because I was hoping to learn more.

The present issues, - What the stakeholders have attempted; - Their difficulties with it; and how they address the issue from beginning to end.

How Might We

I framed the key opportunity areas based on user pain points

Hypothesis Evaluation

I conducted hypothesis evaluations to validate key assumptions before committing to design solutions.

This involved synthesizing insights from stakeholder interviews, early wireframes, and usability feedback to assess what users truly needed.

Customer Journey Map

This customer journey map was created in order to understand the customer's step-by-step journey which is very vital to the success of the business. Focusing on the end user attention on every touchpoint in the product.

User Stories

OTA (Online Travel Agency)

  • As an OTA, I want to customize the branding of my booking portal so it aligns with my business identity and offers a professional experience.

  • As a travel agency owner, I want a quick and easy setup using Anchor to start offering online bookings without dealing with technical complexities.

  • I want to search for or provide a custom domain and get setup instructions to connect it to my portal.

  • As a travel agent, I need a simple, intuitive platform to help clients book trips, so I can focus on excellent service.

  • I want access to analytics and reporting tools to track portal performance and make informed decisions.

  • As a customer, I want to book travel easily through my agency’s portal for a seamless experience.

Feature Ideation

I conducted feature ideation sessions to align the product’s functionality with user needs and business goals.

Using insights from user interviews and stakeholder input, I facilitated collaborative workshops to brainstorm and prioritize features that would solve key pain points.

Competitor Scoring Card

To evaluate market positioning and uncover opportunity gaps, I created a competitor scoring card analyzing key players in the online travel portal space.

Wireframes

To validate structure and flow before investing in visuals, I created two rounds of wireframes:

  • First Iteration: Focused on basic flows (e.g., booking, analytics dashboard). We tested this with real users to understand friction points.

  • Second Iteration: Based on feedback, I revised layouts to improve navigation clarity, reduce cognitive load, and prioritize key actions like domain setup and agency branding.

Style Guide & UI Components

To ensure visual consistency and scalability, I developed a UI style guide that outlined core design elements

UI Design

Once our wireframes were validated through usability testing, I transitioned into high-fidelity UI design. My focus was to create a visually cohesive experience that reinforced user trust while ensuring accessibility and usability.

Key Learnings & Reflection

Working on this project reinforced the importance of aligning user needs with business strategy. I learned that in early-stage products, clarity and momentum often matter more than perfection. By running quick iterative tests, I was able to validate assumptions early and keep the team moving confidently.

Collaborating across functions, engineering, customer support, and product leadership, helped me mature my systems thinking. I also became more intentional about documenting design decisions and trade-offs to ensure continuity and stakeholder alignment.

Most importantly, I was reminded that good UX isn’t just about clean visuals, it’s about reducing cognitive friction and building trust through every interaction.
